My Dear Wife I seat my self at the Capt desk to drop you a fiew lins in ansor to your welcom letter which came to hand last nite which I was glad to read and hear from you and the littel children the letter was dated Oct the 19 I thought vary strange of you not riting sooner I hav rote five letters to you and hav got too letters from you you say in your letter that you put a letter in the Ofic at Plesant plans on the 11 I never recived but one un till last nite and the first was dated the 4 and this is the 6 letter that I rote to you and I dont no what is the cause that you dont rite / often to mee because you no I am lonsom I studey a grate deal a bout you and the children and wold like too hear from you all every day and I think you mite rite one every week. well Rittey Ann I can tell you we are now onder marching oarders and we hav to be at the depot a ganst 9 Oclock in the morning we hav to go to St louis and then our desteney is on none to mee after that but I think we will go to Chatenoga in tenesee to Rosecrans old armey Jenorel Grant is in comand of that armey we dont no but we hav to guess those things and we think we hav guesst rite well I dont think we will see each other for some time /
You said you had not bought eney coarne yet but you thought you wold get som of Boatman I want you to get you a nuff to do you and I wold like to no what you went in too Iowa for what did you do with the things while you was goan well the boys is all well and in fine sperits and willing to go to whip the Rebs out and then we can come home if we live you no we cant grumbel if tha take us South to fite that is what we turnd out for to do when we in listed in the servis and we are willing to do it we no that be fore this ware is over men will loose thare livs be sids thousands that is all redey did by the grate battels that is all redey bin foat and a grate maney more will be foat before / this Rebellion is over Oh may the time speadely come that all of the men North and South may come to gether as brothers and lay down thare arms and worshup God to gether and go to thare one and famelys and liv in peec Oh then if we liv we can see pleasure to gether and rase our littel children Oh may God help us and speadely haston the time to come may God help us and bless us and finely save us in the brite world of Eterneal Gloury write soon and direct your letters to St Louis Mo
