My Dear Wife I one time more take my pen in hand to let you no that I am in tolerbel good helth I hav a bad coald and my sholder is not well yet I am abel for dutey I truley hope when those lins comes to hand tha will find you all well and a doing well
 
we are severel milds a parte tho my lov is just as good for you and the children as if I was with you I wold like to see you very well I cold tell you a grate many things I seen Wm hert in a littel town called Mitchel where we stopt / to chang cars I rote you a letter while I was thare but I did not no Wm hert was thare untill I went to the post office I had seald the letter up. we started from Rolla Mo on the 26 of Oct and stade all nite in Saint louis the next morning we crost the rivver and got on the cars and just at day brake we landed next morning in vinsans Ind and then we went on to LooGootey and ate breckfast then to Mitchel and got our diner we changed cars thare we got on the cars a bout 4 Oclock that eavning and went to new Albeney and lay / all nite in the Depot at day brake next morning we flung nap sacks and went down to the rivver croast and went up thrue Poart land and then to the loer part of Louis ville we are in Camp on a nice blue grass bottom tho wee hav to leav in the morning we are oarderd to Nash ville tennesee If we stay thare long a nuff I will rite you a letter I exspect we will go on to Chatenoga but as soon as we stop I will rite. we will get our pay to day and if I do I will exspress mine to Coone and then you can get that it from him /
 
well Rittey Ann I dont think I will get to see you for severel months tho I am in hops that I will live to see you and the children tho I never see you face too face I want to meet you in heven where wee will never parte no never parte no more but I hope and pray that we may live to see each other a gane and and liv together and rase our littel children tell the children that I send my lov to them and I send lov to you like wise I will close so I remane your loving and devoted husbon untill deth write soon
