Dear Wife I take my pen in hand this morning to drop you a line or to to let you no whear I am and how I am a getting a long My eys is on the mend I think Ill be all rite a gane after while I rote to you when I was at New Albeney Ind but I did not stay long a nuff to get an ansor from you I left the hospital on the 5 of July and went to the boat the 6 we started hear we landed hear yestearday late in the eavning I am 12 milds below St louis

and when you rite let me no all a bout what you hav lernd a bout that land also send me his name and a dress and how mutch money you hav on you and whether you hav got that I sent you by Carter or not
