Dear Rittey Ann I take my pen in hand to let you no that I am well and I truley hope when those lins comes to hand tha will find you and the children well and doing well I reckon you think strang that I dont come home and so do I because my descriptive role has not com yet I rote to the Adgetuent generel of the State and he said he wold rite for it and day before yesterday I rote to generel Rosencrans I told him my time was up and I wanted to go home I hav not got an ansor yet the is 4 more of the 23 hear and and 2 of them thare time is out the same time my time is / one of them got a letter from one of Co G Sargents and he said what the was of the boys that was a live of the first wold be musterd out at Atlanta and sent home and and the recruts will all be kept three year from the time tha enlist I am oneasy a bout you all I am a frade that the rebls and peece men will do a grate deal of harme so I want you to rite to me as soon as you get this letter and if I am goan before it comes I will hav it directed back to you be shure to rite if you hav heard of the boys let me no
rite as soon as you get this
