My Dear wife I am a gane permitted to drop you a fiew lins in ansur to your cind and welcom letter which I was glad to hear from you and the children and to hear that you was all as well as you was I am tolerbel well I hav the rumatism in my hip like I use to hav when i was at home you seeme to think that I write vary shoart letters I hav I now but I did not hav time to write eney more then what I wrote we are write smart distenc from the post offic we are in a rockey part of this world / the lime stone rock is thick hear we run thru the ground in too plases one plase was a bout three hunderd yards and the other was about too hunderd yards we are a bout seven milds south of the pacific citey and a part of our boys is eight milds east of it we hear a grate meney things about our goverment I am a frade that we hav so meney traters in the armey and even in the free stats that we never will gane our libertey Oh my prayers is to the almitey god that we may fite the battels untill we gane our libertey and that we may liv to se / the time come that we may lay our arms down and come home to our respectful famleys as brothers and see our beloved wives and sweete little children oh how I long to se that day come. I am now with Wm tilery and Eanos Ogdon and vandevener we are at the trusel work a garding them we are on garde every nite too ours a peece we are 7 of us to gether we are about one mil from the other boys we hav the nicest wether I ever seen for the time of the year we hav had too littel snows sinc we come hear but tha did not last on the ground but a littel while /Aron Santorp kild a snake on the day before Chrismas and wolhether kild one on Chrismas day we heard that Henery Mc kern was ded and I want to hear whether he is or not I recived a letter from Sister poley and tha was all well now Rittey Ann you wrote like the was somthing rong but wold not say what it was and I want you to let me no what it is I must now close for this time
