Camp Gambel June the 16th 1863
My Dear Wife I am a gane permited to take my pen in hand to drop you a fiew lins to let you no that I am well at this time and I truley hope when those fiew lins comes to hand tha will find you all well and doing well I recived your kind letter this morning which I red with pleasure I was glad to hear from you and the children but I was sorry to hear that you had got heet I hope you will soon get well you rote in regard to them noats you gave Mr king I had not gav my noat and you said you had giv yours So I did not giv mine I never promist to pay eney intrust on eney of that money and more then that I will not pay eney at tall / and as to that thirtey dollar noat I pade the money to Alic king the same day that I got your letter I pade him thirtey Dollars and he rote home how mutch I had pade him and I rote the same to you and if you hant got the noat go and get it and tare your name off you nead not to be oneasy a bout you a giving your noat you now it is all the same you tell Mr king if he wants intrust on that noat he may go on Allic to get it for when I make a trade I will stand to it and I will want others to do the same it is not worth while for eney furs to be made but I will not pay eney intrust on that noat

You said in your letter that you wold like to now hoo was a runing / after the Wiman this is a question can be ansord vary quick it is no use of mee a putting thare names down
Martian V. Ewing and Joshua hendrixon and Alford Mckee and mee wee stade in camp and tended to our own buisness and the rest run after the wiman and too the dances and plade cards and it is now use to say hoo tha are I speak of the Mosell Squad and as for Roofus king I exspect it is tru he broat a hoar from Calvey to Sait Louis all this is bad a nuff you no som that was at the Mosell Squad so I will not rite eney more a bout it this time when I come home I will tell you all about it so I must close for this time
