My Dear Wife the image of your face is on my mind and continuly before my mind May the Father of Mercey support you and pore in to your busom the richest consulations of his Grace
and preserv and strengthen you for your family What can wee do if you suffer your self to sink onder the sorrow that afflicts you let us bear up and dever to fulfill our dutey to our little children let us not over cast the morning of their lives with unavailing gloom that exhibiting to them continuly the picture of despare trubels comes soon enough whatever wee do to prevent it and somber side of life will come earley enough to show it self to them without any hast on our part to draw aside the curtian let them be on let them be uslly gay and hapy / as long as tha can tell them to depart all ways from trubel and dispare and all ways teach them the Christan life to liv and pray for them and for all of us poore soldiers hoo are fare from home and sick and wounded oh let us pray for each other that we may liv to see the
speadly role a round when we can see each others faces and talk with each other and oh May the time speadley role a round oh God help us in trubel and in destress

A fiew lins more I just recived recived a letter from you a fiew minets a go I was glad to hear from you and glad to hear that you and the children was well and doing as well as you was i rote too letters sinc wee come hear and i recived this one a fiew minuets a go you nead not to be trubeld a bout mee not sending you money tha say wee will stay hear to gard the sittey and wee will get our pay the first of next month if we stay and i think wee will stay hear that is what the Offisers says and if you nead more then 20. Dollars untill wee get our pay rite and let mee now and i will send you som i want to keep som money by mee to pay my way home when my time comes tho if wee stay hear / wee will get our pay before I get to come home i can borrow as mutch as i want I think you spoke of having a grate many yong twentey thirds I expect tha hav had a chanc to make them from what I hav seen and heard others say a nuff on that subgect i will tell you all a bout it when i come home by your things that you nead and i will send you money if you nead before i get my pay write and i will send you som i must close write and let me now how you are a getting a long write soon and often fare well fore a while
