My Dear Wife I gladly take my pen in hand to ansor your letter of the 23 of this month I was glad to hear from you but sorry to hear that you hav such bad luck with your crop if the old man Sinks dont do what is rite you try to make him if you are shure that you can make him pay for the hogs put him thrue and if you cant tend to it hav som bodey that can and if I live and hav good luck I will be at home by the last of next month and when I come I will try to straten such men you be shore to be on the rite side / and hav wittneses to prove he kild them if you can put him thrue as soon as you can ho is the justos of the peece when you rite let me no his name well I hav bad luck Rittey Ann my eys has got prettey near well and I hav a fellon on my left thumb I never slep eney last nite the Docter says he will cut my thum open this eavning I cant rest day or nite with it and I cant rite hardley I rekon you can read it tho it is bad rote well do the best you can till I come home tell the children I send my lov to them and want to be rememberd by you all
Oh I wish I was at home / with you and the children I want to see you the worst kind my time is out in twentey seven days from to day and if I hav good luck I will be a free man one time more well I hav bought me too pare of pants and tha are nice tha are Caveldry pants tha cost me $3.55cts a pare and I can get $5.00 a pare for them if you hav plentey of money send me five dollars more in the next letter and I will by me too pare of Infentry pants that coast $2.00 and a half a pare
well I will will hav to close soon fare well
