My Dear Wife i one more time take my pen in hand to let you no that i am well and i truley hope when those fiew lins comes to hand tha may find you and the Children well and doing well i recived a letter from you yesterday which i was glad to hear from you glad to hear from that you was all well and doing as well as you was we are not in benton barracks we are in Camp Jackson clost too the barracks our the has Cornal has his hed quarters in the barracks
 
Rittey Ann when i make at trade you no i generely no what i am about / Alic king told me that he had to pay 100 dollars for that peece of land before wee traded i made a fare trade with him and let mee tell you i think henery Mckern wants the land for i heard him say that he wanted the land before i came in the servis and he said he lovd to hav it when it was sold and i new if i did not trade with Alic henery would get the land and rather than to miss the land i had rather pay one hunderd and fiftey dollars for i had rather hav the land then eney that joins us and i will trade if he dont back out 
 
            If I dont get the land it will ruin us and before i wold miss it i wold pay 200 dollars. You no that when i trade that i will not back out i now that henery wants the land and tha are a wanting make me pay write big price but i think we will do well for to get it at that price becaus the land runs up to the house and if wee can get it we can hav a chanc to get the other south too and so let us make shure of that first
 
Rittey Ann wee are a going going to be put in a brigade and som says we are a going to roley som says we will go to / Generel Rosencran i cant tell wee will go to som place after while you may think strang Alac and mee has traded before i rote to you at tall and it is still a trade without he backs out
 
i was to pay him 80 dollars down but i told him i cold not pay only 60 dollars down and he wats for the balanc until Christmas for the balanc i will want you to hav the dead made to mee and then get it recoarded and you giv the oald man king the note that you hav on wyatt and Coon the dead i want made
