My Dear Wife i seat my self down this morning to drop you afiew lins to let you no that i am well and i truley hope when those fiew lins comes to hand tha will and doing well i hav wated for a letter from you for severel days but i hav not got it yet i hope i will get one to day i am a going down to Calvey to see the Capt.
 
the wether is vary cool for the time of year we hav had a rite smart of wrane hear the boys is all well / as fare as i no let me no whether henery McC.kern has com home or not i heard that he had got his papers made out for a dis Charg and lidey was a looking for him home Rittey Ann you dont no how bad i want to see you and the Children the time seams long to me but I am still in hops that I will liv to se the day come when I can com home and liv with you and the Children I cold tell you a grate many things if I cold see you
 
the dances is plade out and the boys all stays in camp 
 
we think we will stay on this road all sumer this is what the Capt toald me the other day you must excuse me this time for not riting more i am botherd this morning i hope to hear from you soon
