Dear Rittey Ann I am happey to say to you that I am yet a live and able to set up and rite to you I hav the sore eys and one of them is vary bad it is my left ey that is so bad I rote to you when I was at dalton georga and we went on 18 milds further to Rasaca and tha left me thare I stayed too days thare and then came back to Chattnooga and et diner and then to nashvill and then we came to Louisville ky crost the rivver to day and came over to the Generel hospittle No. 4. New Albeney Indana I dont no how long I will stay hear write as soon as you get this letter I am still in good hart yet I think I will see you yet dont get out of hart and rite as soon as you can 
 
I rote conserning of that land just let it all lay till I get home and let me no all a bout how you are getting a long you must do the best you can till I come home it is not quite three months till my time will be out if I live then Ill be a free man one time more
 
tell the Children houdey for me tell them to rememberd by them so fare well to all
