Dear Sister
I seat my self this morning for the purpose of writing you a few lines to let you now that I am still on the land and among the living and that I am at this time enjoying a reasonable portion of health for which I feal thankful to all mity god and I do hop these few lines may safely and in good time reach you and find you all well. Yours of the 22nd come to hand this morning I was truly glad to hear from you and to hear that you was all well and in good spirits the boys John and James is well I was at the camp yesterday and seen John he was well and the boys is generally well
well Rity an I am glad to hear that the coprheads has to begin to scatter and I hope it wont be long be fore tha will all have to leave or do something elce and I hope it wont be long be fore I with all the rest of the soldiers will be at home to help settel with the coperhead for I think it wont be long be fore the war will be over or I hope so at least well rity an there has ben quite a reformation in the 23 there has quite anumber of them profest religion there has some seventy or eighty of the regiment that has formed them selves in to an organised body for the purpose of trying to serve god while tha are serving there contry well I will soon have to bring my letter to a close as I have nothing of im portance to write / but before I do I well will say that I wish to be rememberd by you hoping to hear from you son and often nomore at this time I remane your loveing
