Dear Brother
we received your letter of the 3 on Satuday night we are all well at present Maxwell and Anna is going to meting and mother is setting behint the stove taking a smoke we got them five dollars that you sent us we are very mutch obliged to you for it we have received three letters for you and Crawford since you went away the one for you is from California there is something there is in it like a breast pin
Mr Barker has sold his house and lot to Henry Maurer he has not moved yet I guess he will not till fall Mr Barker is talking of bying from Mr Rees where from Brown lives
there is to be a meting at the shool house on next Wensday night to rais a home guard there is going to be a good many there I belief you must not run off like some of theme has for theme that comes back / is called cowards Samuel Barker he come back and there was a great talk about him he has gone to the mountain i guess
we are getting along pretty well this spring there was about three inches of snow up here yesterday morning but it was all gone agin evening Mother wants to know if you have preaching or prayr meting on Sunday I was at Mill yesterday in the fore noon and was hauling rails in afternoon and wood home we would like to know if you are 2th Lieutenant yet uncle Dougle is well and fishes a good bit
