Rebecca Smolk (maiden name: Kennedy) was born on March 30, 1829, in Canada. She eventually immigrated to America and settled in York, Ohio. She married David Smolk on November 28, 1849, and they had at least three children: Isabella, born around 1850; Mary, born around 1854; and Charles, born around 1856. Her husband worked as a farmer, and by 1860, they owned $11,000 of real estate and $800 of personal property. They moved to Litchfield, Ohio, in the 1860s, and by 1870, they owned $3,200 of real estate and $1,500 of personal property. Her husband died on January 17, 1895. She applied for a widow’s pension the following month and eventually received one. She died in York on October 5, 1911.
