       Camp Holbrook,  Jan  20th 1862
 
     Dear Wife
                         I will rite a few
lines and let you know
that I am Well and hope these
few lines will find you the
same   it is rather lonesom here
it snows here about all of the
time    it makes it nasty and
unpleasant     We dont know when
we shall have to leave here
there is nine companies here
now  We expect another to day
Well Francis   I should like to
see you very much  I am lonesom
Without you  I shall come up
see you if I can arrange
and I think it will be soon
cause we dont drill much
The snow is as deep it is
rather dull music laying
around here   Well I cant rite
much more this time.  I want
you to rite as often as you
can   Give my love to all
and except a good share
your self  rite as soon as
you get this  good buy
