Mary A. Harden to Enos Reed, 16 March 1863
Belinda Iowa March 16th 1863

Enos Reed, dear brother,
I heard the other day that Colonel Clark had ordered all of his regiment that were at Memphis up to St Louis, so I thought I had better send this power of attorney (for Jim to sign) to you, and if Jim is not there (at St Louis) when you rec. this and you are not looking for him up in a short time, you will please forward it to him I suppose you know that Jim has already rec. his pay for his Missouri trip, but this is for Aus Osburn Caruthers, you know he answered to Jim's name after Jim came away with his team.

Caruther's folks tryed to get it for Osburn but they couldn't for his name was not on the pay roll, and their lawyer said that Jim would have to get it for him and it is for him that we are trying to get it. I will also send a letter to you, for Jim, and if he is not there, and you are not expecting him soon, you will oblige me / very much by forwarding them to him Loo has just been writing to you and I guess she has written all of the news Tell Coony that we would all like very well to see him but we dont want him to desert. Give my respects to all of my acquaintances, and believe me your affectionate sister and well wisher
                                                                                                            Mary A. Harden.

P. S. When you see Warfield give him my best respects and tell him to write to us soon.
                                                                                                                        M.A.H.
