Camp Holbrook,  Feb. 27,  1862
                               Brattleboro, Vt.
 
     Dear Wife,
                          I will write you
a few lines and let you know
that I arrived safe in Camp
and well as usual and hope these
few lines will find you the
same.  There is quite a number
of boys that went up with
us that have not come back
the honerabal Mr Young has
gone to Canada   I guess you
had quite a snow storm up
there     the cars have not been
down since monday,   I wish my
furlo had run till tuesday
then I should have a chanse
to staid a while  I am lonsom
here Frances    I wish I could go
home and live with you    We
would live so happy together
wouldnt we   I think we should
leave here next Sunday    We
shall be lonsom boys I expect
I dread to have the time come
for us to start    We have got to
go so far by watter.   Bill Bliss
has gon to the hospital
this morning but dont
know what ails him
our teamsters went to
Boston last Monday   We shant
see them agaian till we get to
Shipiland for we go to New
York and take a boat  Frances
I dont want to go and leave you
but we must go  but my
thoughts will be with you
For ever  I will try and come
back again  We are to be paid
of to day   I guess I will send
mine up by Captain Andross
he is here   I guess it will be safe
I dont think of much more
to write this time  God bless you
