Camp Holbrook,  March 3rd, 1862
                                       Brattleboro, Vt
 
     Dear Wife,
                       
                          I will write a
few lines in answer to yours
of the 2nd I received to night
and was very glad to here from
you    I wrote to you Sunday
but for fear that you wont get
that will write a few lines
to night   When I wrote to you
that I would send you some
money by Captain Andross
I did not know how much
I should send that note
is twenty five dolars  there
will be some interest on it
that is all i am writing   I
believe I sent you Fifty
Dolars by Captain Andross
I told him if he was not
going to Fairlee for anything
he might hand it to George
Morrison and he would hand
 
it to you   I wrote to George
to day that I had sent it
and you would pay that
to him   You said that you
was going home next weak
and stay three or fore weaks
I am glad you are    I think
you have worked out long
a nough  You said you was
going back if tha would
pay you a nough so you
could live   Well Frances I
think that I can suport
you if you dont work all
the time   I should like to
have you go up to Farthers
and stay and live kinder
easy a while
tha would like to have
you go there and live
you have done your share of
work   you can help Mother
Sam and live Easy  I want
you should live happy and
take some comfort   I will
write to our folks about
it  I know tha would like
to have you go there and
live   You spoke about these
men that was found at that
house of ill fame I dont
know what thare names was
thare was one Lieutenant and
two sergents but none of our
compernia   Dear Frances   I
will never be found in that
place   I have to much respect
for you and for myself
I will be an honest man
till I get back if I ever do
if not I hop I shall mete
My Dear Wife in a better
World whare thare will be
no more parting.  I guess We
shall go to the village and
stay to morrow night  tha
way tha are going to take our
horses down to morrow.  I guess
We shall leave Wensday
I dont find any news to
Write it is a poor place to
find any news  no more this time

give my love to all
