       Brashear City, La Nov 28th 1862
 
Absent though not fogotten Wife
 
                         Yours of Nov 3rd
arrived in due time and was
very glad to here from you
and that you was well    My
health is very good at present
You say you have written two
letters sinse you have recieved
any from me    Well it must
be that I have not recived them
all    I have endevored to anser
all of the letters that I recived
from home    Perhaps tha are
miss carried    I dont think that
half the letters that are
sent from here ever reach Vermont
but dont know what the reason
I wrote you when we was at Bayou
Becoup    We have left that place
and have arrived at Brashear
City and camped    We have very
good quarters here    the regiment
is camped in the stores   C W
Woodbury & John Kipleger  P Halley
and myself have Doctor Maxwells
office for our quarters and it is
a fine little plase to    We expect
to stay here this winter    We are
purty close to the rebels here
thare pickett guard is in sight
but tha are the other side of the
river so I guess tha wont trouble
us here    We have three gun boats
here to protect us    I understand
that Lewis Childs has got back
but have not seen him yet but
I think I shall tomorrow    I am
going to New Orleans tomorrow
if nothing happens to me
I should like to ben thare with you
Thanksgiving Day    I thought of
you all a grate deal    I hope
before another thanksgiving comes
we shall all be at home    Cant
tell it is getting late and I
must close     I had a letter
from Amanda & Edwin &
Emlia, Katie & Charles the same
time with yours   the folks are
about the same    Charles says
he expects to go home     His
health is about the same
I hope he will go    We have
lost two boys sinse I wrote
you    John Leiscomb from
Corinth  J W Foot of Threeford
tha died with the fever
the rest are pretty smart
I should like to see you very
much and hope I shall before
long and all the rest of my
folks    We have had no fighting
to do yet and hope we shant
                             have aney
I must close for this time
Write soon    Give my love
to all and accept a good bunch
