Elmira Oct 4th 1862
Dear Brother
I thought I drop you a few lines and let you know how things is shaping here. well the first four miles we are all well here now and hope you are the same. I spose you are expecting us home again but I am afraid you will be dissapointed for I hurd the Leutenent Col say this morning that we had marching orders so we will go before long but we have not got all our clothes nor eney money yet / we will get it monday
and I spose we may leave here next week thursday or friday I will send my things to [?] and I will send a letter at the same time and let you know what I send. Jim Coryell will send some things to I guess How does hank hess prosper since he came home he was prety sick the night before he left jim Lee was quite sick but is better so he drills to day day before yesterday we had a review and yesterday we had our arms inspected to day there was a regment come here to get there arms and we had to make agrate parade but that was all right you know and to morrow I spose / I will have to stand on guard I have not stood guard since you was here but had to wash dishes some we have got our over coats so it dont come so hard theas cool nights I sent with hank for som money but you needent send it now I sent aletter to MLD and my picture in it and have not hurd from it I directed it to bath about the time the fair was When you write you would let me know if she is at Ralphs or not. well I dont know of eney thing else to write
