Dear Brother
I thought as uncle Peter was down here I would send you a letter and some money we got our bounty that is the $50 state bounty and we may get the rest tomorrow or next day they telegraphed for the other Paymaster this morning I dont know wether we will get home again before we leave or not. Lee Loveridge was here this morning he was sick when his regt left with the typhoid fever and went home and is on his way to join his regment his folks are all well his regment are withing six / miles of washington his direction are Lee Loveridge Washington DC 50 Reg. N.Y.S.V.E. Co. I.
the boys are teling that the Col has said that we are going to leave thursday but I dont hardly believe it yet hank hess is writing jery to com down and if you want to you can come along but if you cannot I will send the rest of my money with some body els I will send forty Dollars with this letter the Paymaster has provided away for us to send our money home safe after this we sign a list and then we get a check or money or both I will get a check for eight Dollars a month sined to you and I will send it home and you can go to the bank and get it cashed / if it is lost the goverment will give me another for it wont do eney body els eney good but you. then I get five Dollars a month to spend and if that wont stand me I will send home for more but I will try it with that I have Eight Dollars left of that fifteen yet besides some that is to come
yesterday it rained stedy and last night the mager let the gards all go in there shantys and then they garded the Doors but I went out you better believe they gave the mager three harty cheers
well I dont know what else to write I dont care if you send me more stamps if you can as well as not and if you dont come here write
Some of the boys sais they are going home to vote at election a week from tomorrow I can tell better when that comes
