Dear Wife
I will write a few lines
to you and let you know
how Iam after a long march
of about a hundred miles
We arived at Fort Hudson the
25th of May and the 26th we went
in to battle thare and a hard
battle it was to I am sorry to say
that I was wounded the first day
about 1 o’clock the ball struck me
in the left side of my neck and
run up over my shoulder acrosed my
back and was taken out at the
lower edge of my shpulder blade
on the right side
I was sent to Baton Rouge I am in the Harvey
House Hospital and am getting
along first rate I dont want
you to worry about me for I
am doing well I dont see
anything why I shant get
well so as to be out every
day on the street I should
like to write something about the
rest of the boys but I dont here
from thare very often so I dont
know how tha are getting along
Frances I would like to be at home
with you now very much it would
be much more pleasant than it is
here I want to here from home
very much It has been some time
since I have heard from you
I want to know how thhe folks
are at home I cant stop to
write aney more this time
I have just got a letter from
George Telanders He says that
he and Harry are smart I
think Missey ought to write
to me he has not writin to
me sinsehe left home I
have write to him quite a number
of times I think of no more to
write this time Give my love to
farthers folksand all the rest
and accept a good share yourself
Write soon and all the news
tell them I am all right
