marching orders now but dont
know where we are going I hope
tha are not going a grate ways
for I want to go with them
and shall if tha dont order
me to stay behind I had
rather be with the boys than to
be left behind I think it is as much
more pleasant I was sorry to here
that Fred was drafted for I
dont want any more of my
brothers to go in to the armey if
he cant get rid of going without
having three hundred dollars if
Ed will pay it I will pay half
of it willingly I would rather
he would stay at home but
if he has to go I would like to
have him come out here with me
Capt. Leach and quite a number
of men have gone home to take
what men there is for this
regiment out here Well Frances
I would like to go home and see
you very much but I dont know
whether it will be so I can or

smart you wanted I should
let you know when I was promoted
to first sergent it was the
first of April I think at Opelousas
I guess the boys will think tha
had better have a new one
if I dont get so to go to work
before long tha have not found
any fault yet Well I cant stop
to write much more this time
if I can get a furlough to
go home I shall go you must
not make up your mind that
