Dear Brother I received your kind letter in due time and take this my first oportunity of answering it. I am all well except my right cheek which has a gum bile it broke yesterday and I can sit qute easey to day I have half a notion to believe that you sent it in your letter for I set on it while I was reading another and that night I felt the thing a coming it was an old rouster the rest of the boys are all well Hank is on guard at General Emerys head quarters that is the Division Gen. General Dewite is our / Brigadear now they have changing things some we are still in the old Brigade and Division but there is some new regts come in the 15 main is one the 173 and 114 NYVol 30 Mass and 161
we was out on a review to day sort a selebrating Washingtons Birth Day they fired cannon and cut a dog tue they are a geting ready for spring
our cavilry had a little brush with some rebes the other day and took some prisiners amongst them was an old planter that lived in side the pickets and had taken the oath and had a safe guard at his house. it seames he stole the guards blanket and got throught the pickets and joined the rebes but it didend do much good he is down town in jail waiting his trile / I think likely Franklin will let him go there is some talk of us going up to red river after awhile when our recruites come
Jim sincebox is living with me since hank left his brother was here from Ill and staid three or four days with us and we had a bulley old time him and his uncle talks of takeing a plantaion some where down in this state you said I must have some fun with Jim all the fun you have with him about Betsey you are welcome to the best holt is nate Austin She writes him a prompt letter onse in a while
I suppose you know who Ains pretty gals I hurd he said she was rich as well as pretty I have seen the picture of mothers gal I received a letter from Julia / Loveridge the other day She said she thought you ought to come out and see that Lib of yours She lives across the road from them you know where it seames Garrie has bin buying the brick house north of the toll gate on the corner Oh Pete I hurd that Dick Stewart has bin cuting up the duce with a soldiers wife that was keeping house for him while his wife was a visiting he had better look out fore some of theas soldiers will be cusses when they get home again Ain says he will shoot him for his gal when he comes home I guess it will be his gal well Pete I can not think of eney more nonsence so I will close write soon
