Dear Brother
                                                                                                                        I take this oportunity to let you know where we are Uncle Samma has bin very clever this summer to let us ride up and down this river and all for nothing too we was at arkansas 11 days we left there the 5 on board the Kenton Genl Bailey and a part of the 6 mich reg went on the Polar Stare the rest of the 6 mich with a lot of tools went on the St Cloud and in that shape we came down the river all right we stoped onse to get wood and got a lot of water mellons we got to vicksburg the 6 at 7 oclock pm and took on cole that night in the morning we took on some things that we left ther before / and started down the river at 10 it was cool and pleasent so we had a nice time we pased Natches about midnight as before so I did not see it. we arived at Morganzia about 9 the next morning but did not get on shore till 1 then we landed about 2 miles below where we was in camp before there is quite a lot of troops here now and they have got a gay old fort here now
 
I forgot to mention that Capt B F von and Geo Prentiss arived at the regt on the 3ed all right the Capt struts and wigels as bad as ever. Geo said he had a bulley time while home and a good time a coming down his shoulder is rather tender yet but he took the old flag again Geo brought that portfoleio but I had one that I got at vicksburg so I sold it for 50 cts for I did not want boath nor could not carrie them. I tent with Geo & gus now and we have some bulley good times /
 
Well pete there aint eney news to write I wrote to you about the queen city I did not here eney thing about wilber Henry Bush came there at white river Landing the day we started from there I did not see him I was on guard his regt did not stay there they went up to St Charles I believe Wm Hess saw him and talked with him some Elliet was kiled at Huntsville or some sutch plaice about 2 weeks befor. he had command of his regt at the time so will Hess said
 
Lieutenent Linsey was here when we landed he was taken with Co D he looks well he said the boys was at New Orleans and going to have ferloughs
 
I will send you some fish scales the big flat one is a scale of what they call Buffalow fish they look some like a bass but weigh from 20 to 30 lbs the boney scales are off of what is caled the gar or aligater gar and look as much like an aligater onely they have fines insted of leges the boys said there was one bit of a fellows swapper slick and clean / a few days before we came from white river it was at St Charles he was in swiming at the time I dont know wether it kiled him or not
 
I saw one take a line right a way from one of the boys it took him in the water first they weigh from 20 to 40 lbs they are the prinsiple fish that is caught here there is a few cat fish and what is caled gossnogors but they are all corse graned and you would think poor things but we think they are good well Beanes & coffee is ready so I will close pleas write and give me all of the news of the naighbor hood and around tell Lee tomer to kiss my assassin or something else
