Dear Brother
                                                                                                            I received your welcomed letter of aug 29th last night and read it with pleasure although the mosketoes wer very thick. I was glad to hear that you wer well and in hopes of coming out all right at last and I hope you know your your own bisiness best you see I dont know onely what I hear well the orders is to pack up and go on the US Transport Kate dale and report to morganzia So here we go
 
NO Sept 5 we went on the boat at noon but the tide went out and as the shore was shallow we got a barge to run up to the peer to take / on a battery and she got a ground and we worked all night and untill noon the next day before we got her off then they got a light draft gunboat to help them we went to fort gaines to draw raitions So I went on shore and through the fort it is a nice and strong fort most as bad of morgan but had not so meney guns it was not battered at all and yesterday morning we started at 3 arived here at 5 this morning all right and received a mail I received yours of the 14 of aug allso one from Julia Loveridge She said that hulldy was at avon springs sick and that is about all Lee and mag was at washington the talk is now that we are going up white river again if so I will try and write when we get there
 
Well pete I think you would come out all right in the end if the folks would let you a lone / but still I did not know but you might get of the track if they all was a gainst you but let them rip they cant hurt a cristian
 
well pete I believe I have not told you how we all feasted on oysters at Decar point we had all we wanted by waiding in the water and geting them Gibson Bill Hess and I got a wheel barrow full one morning and hank Hess and I got  a wheel barrow the morning we left in about half an hour so we lived that day and the next too
 
well that is all this time give me all the news next time
