Dear Brother
I thought as I had a few spare moments I would scrabble of a few lines to you and let you know where what and how we all get along. I am well and so are the rest of the boys. I received I Diary with 17 Stamps the same day I sent the letter to you and your wife yesterday I was down to the City and got John Prentiss and went and saw Geo he is doing well so he traviles all around the hospital John came up to camp with us he is all right he gave me that Paper and 17 more stamps / so I think I can aford to write a few lines
we have had very wet and muddy wether for the last 2 or 3 weeks. most all the troops have gone from here to mobile last week the 161st expects to go soon they are waiting for a boat Co A will not go untill Genl Steal goes. the Col sent a request for us to be relieved but the adgent Genl sent word that he would not relieve us untill he was oblidge to for he is very well pleased with our conduct So much for Co A I dont know wether we will go to mobile or not but rather think we will. wel I suppose you are having good sleighing about now Not so with with us the 4 the mosketoes bothered some in the evening but it has bin som cooler and so stormy that they / have not bothered us since
well Pete I have not hurd eney war news lately of importance Nor we have not had a mail in some time I think perhaps the R.R. is blockaded with snow or something of that sort and maybe it may delay this some. well I dont think of eney more News to write I hurd that they was boring on the point for oil is it so or is it all a yarn. well write and let me know all the news
So good By
