Dear Brother
                        I received yours of the 22 in due time and was glad to hear from you and learn that you wer all well up there I am well and so are the most of the boys there is two or three that is complaining some but I am in hopes they will be around soon. it is very fine weather yesterday and to day the mud is most all dried up. the regt left this morning for mobile I suppose they took the carres and went to New Orleans we expect / we will follow soon maybe tomorrow well I must go on guard so I will wait and finish it some other time.
 
Sept 12th warm and pleasent we have not gone yet but the boys are a fixing for it. John Prentiss Erastus Lee, James and Ain and my self have bin packing some cloathes that we thought we could spare and send them home as we expect to be there before cold wether again I sent my over coat and dress coat with a pair of woolen mittens in the pocket and some things in the mittens a little fine stick it is of of the rebel flag staff at fort morgan when it surrendered Pleas take care of them for me Jim McConnell says he would like for you to get his and ains things when you get mine the Box will be sent to Wm Prentiss by express and / and I wish you would pay my share of the charges as I have not got eney money now and also Jims and Ains and it will be made right with you I have forgot but I think I wrote to you a while ago for a pair of cotton socks I would like them now as it has got to be warm weather and my army socks have about plaid and I dont think I will draw eney more. well I think we will leave in a day or so now there is troops leaving every day and they are about all gone but the Genl and his guards
 
Sept 13th it is a raining alittle We sent that box this forenoon and the talk is we will leave to morrow So I thought it time to mail this. all well here I believe So good By for this time Wil Nevyus /
