Dear Brother
I have just read your kind letter of Feb 26 which brought me the sad tidings of Brother Andrews Death but was glad to learn that you wer all well at home when you wrote I am as well as useule we left fort gaines last Friday and crossed over the bay to Pilot town then commensed to advanse towards mobile the Sunday we had to waid across a bayou in water up to our knees some 10 rods wide and yesterday we came to a slough / which we could not get across nor around so we camped and went to building corderoy road they say there severel mil to be repaired they repaired a considerable yesterday & last night so we made a start this morning but the Division train got stuck so we are waiting to have them get out of the way it rained very hard last night and this morning so the road is not very good. there is men to work all the time now there is plenty of Noraway pine trees here so I think that they will soon have it fixed so we can go forward again
there is no news to write as I wrote to you or Josiahs folks a few days ago and gave all the news I could think of /
I have bin thinking about Brother Andrew a considerable and had made up my mind that if I did not hear from untill my time was out to try and get mustered out down here and go to matamoros but I guess I will come home first now if I am spared that privilidge and if not you will take care of the things the same.
the mail before this I received a few lines from anna and she wanted to know if they should sell thear place if I was willing to sell them Josiah my share of the farm and what I would take for acre I wrote back that I would rather wait untill I come home if I could for I did not care about seling at all but if / did I would let them have a chance but I allways thought I would like to keep it myself if I could. well that is all for I must try and see if I can send it back with the mail carrier Give my love to all the friends
