Dear Brother
                        I take this oportunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope you and the rest of the friends are enjoying the same blessing, and I dont want you to worry about me, for I think I will come around all right some day. perhaps you dont understand the heading of my letter, so I will try and explain it a little. well Monday after noon they kicked up a row, and turned over or dismissed / all the 3 Brigade ambalance Corps all the veterens and big bounty men wer turned over to the 2 Divis Corps and the 3 years men under the 62 Call wer relieved and all gon to thear regts but the 161 and we dont know where the regt is nor aint anxious to know but the Sergt says he will try and get transportaion to New Orleans to morrow there is nobody here that can tell for serton where the regt is but think it is in florida somewhere
 
well Pete you see that my Texass arangement is all knocked in the head the offisers said that they thought I could get mustered out here but the order came Sunday not to muster / eney more out untill further orders and all detached men that came out under the 62 Call to be relieved and return to thear regts and most all the troops around here wer ordered to be ready with 4 days cooked rations to march or embark at one hours notis and I tried to get the Capt to let me go with him to Texass but he said he could not under the present sircumstances So I suppose we all will be with the regt soon there has quite a no of troops gone from here since Sunday and more expecting to go soon it has bin a perfect uproar here for the last week and all kinds of yarns agoing / I dont give a puqanene
 
there is a Sergt & 4 men here and we are boarding at a citizens and having a gay old time John Jackson that was in the Hospital at elmira was left here in the Hospital here but is well and was sent to camp Destribution and calculates to go with us when we go he told me to send his best wishes and ask you if you remembered Stonewall Jackson or Say Dr Say, say Dr say would a little beef stake hurt me well I dont know eney more to write now so good By. Give my best regards to all the Friends and keep a share for yourself and wife
