Dear Brother
I received your kind letter of May 28th last evening also thoes photographs. and I am very much oblidged they look very naturel I think you look very much like a man after sleeping with a good looking woman. it makes me think a bout trying it down here but the thing of it is I cant find a good looking one and then it is most to warm to sleep two in a bed here now. it has bin very warm since I came to Apalachicola and there is a considerable sickness in the regt now. I have bin playing off for a few days but keep around /

I have just helped eat 4 Dozenes of peaches so I think I will get along fare soon they cost me $1.00 they begin to bring vegtables down the river now and I think the boys will get along better now

yesterday there was a boat load of cotton came down and when they wer about 1½ miles of here it took fire somehow, and it burnt up every thing in less than half an hour. I believe there was two lives lost the chaimber maid and engineer. the boat was run ashore but they had to jump in the water knee deep or more all the small boats that was here was sent to assist there was but a few pasingers on board. it took fire by some loos cotton and spred with a rush Lieut Gibson and 20 of the men went up the river a 100 miles last night on a boat and have not got are not / coming back in 6 or 8 days

the most of the boys are well but very slow to get around you know that that was naturel for me I am glad to hear that Gus Prentiss and the rest of them boys have got around again and I hope now as the war is over the rest of us will soon be there with you all, but I cant tell yet how soon it will be nor how long before we will leave here. not more than three months at least

Well I reccon I will come home with the Co now if I can and I shall try hard for it eney way as there is no chance to get mustered out here now. there is some talk of sending the new recruites home right away [last line torn off the page] / veteren regt if they do I think we will stand a chance to get out soon. well I dont know of eney thing more to write So I will close

                                                                        my Best wishes to
                                                                        all the friends
                                                                                    Yours for ever
                                                                                                Wilson
