            Dear Brother,
I thought I would scribble of a few lines and send them out on the steamer and let you know that I am well and in a fair way to serve my time of servis out here in the South for I dont see eney signes of our geting away or mustered out here. it has bin talked about untill it is an old story, and most of the boys have made up thear minds to be contented even some of the recruites but some of swets and fomes be caus they are not mustered out and all the other recruites have gone home but I guess that they will Live Through it if nothing hapens yet it would do you good to hear us Blow / each other some times but you would soon get tired of it too. but that is all that keeps us alive now. it is awfull dull times here now and not spelt right at that Nohow. the steamer Genl Banks came in this morning from New Orleans but we cant hear eney news yet. there was no mail on board, and but few papers and the offisers got them. the Coln went to Barrancas two weeks ago to atend Court marshel and will probably be there untill his time is out. Mike Prentiss went to N.O. about two weeks ago and I suppose is on his way home before this time at least I hope so for this climat did not agree with him very well, he was in good spirites when he left. the boys here are generly well James H Coryell has a shak of the eague onse in a while but keeps around most of the time he said he felt prety well this morning well I cant think of eney more to write and what I have wrote dont amount to eney serton Sum so I will stop here.
