Dear Wife
I will write you a few lines and let you know whare I am we left Centeral Park yestarday about two o.clock and came to this plase it is a small island thare is only seven achers in it it is a very plesant plase here I dont know how long tha will keep us here we shall go from here to our Regiments if tha think we are able for duty Dear Frances I was sorey to hav to leave Brattleboro before you could come down thare I was calculating that you would come down and see me after thanksgiving was over I should liked to have ben thare and took supper with you thanksgiving day but could not I am inhops before another thanksgiving day comes I shall be at home with you we are hering some very good news from the seat of war and I hope we shall keep hering good news till the war is settled up I woldent care if tha settle it before I start to go back but I guess thare will be no such good news as that I got a pass when I was at the Centeral. Park. Hospital and went down to the City and I went and see Edwin..Fuller and had a very good time he went round over the city with me som he is well he sends his respects to you and said you might send your picture to him if you was amindto when I was at brattleboro I wrote to you & sent five dolars in it to you when you rite please rite whather you recived it or not if you did all right thare is 33 of us here that belong toVermont only one that belong to my regiment I shouldent wonder if we hald to stay here some time before tha send us of but cant tell we may go this weak and we may stay here a mounth this is a converlescant Hospital here thare is four or five hundred here that are about ready for duty well Frances how are you geting aloung thare well I hope I wish I could be thare and spend the winter with you I should be very happy if I could I cant stop to write much more this time I have jest wrote to George Flanders & I rote to Sophronia yestarday & Edwin day before I will close by sending you a thousand good wishes and a good night kiss write soon good night love to all
