Edwin B. Lipscomb to Luther W. Hopkins, 1 November 1908
Staunton, Va., Nov 1 1908
Dear Uncle Luther
Who would have thought of our having an "Author" in the family. Well we are proud to know it. Your book is splendid—I read it for two hours before I could put it down & go to wink. We each & all thank you for the copy sent & we are enjoying reading it aloud. Va, Lizzie's daughter, who lives with us is delighted to hear it read. I will show it to the Old Confeds. already showed to Capt McIlhany, and the Editor of the Dispatch & News & get him to write it up. / Do hope you will sell a great many copies. By the way I will call your attention to item about Hon J R Tucker—he was a "US Representative" & not a Senator. Am sure you will find that he never was in the Senate.
When I called you up last June I was passing thro. Balto & had to see an eye doctor & only had a few hours was very sorry not to see you. The phone was so bad could not hear very well. I was out at Mr Lyons where Ginnie is. Will write you again when I find what can be done
Love to Cousin Kate & all
Very truly
E B Lipscombe
