Kinloch
Dec 5th 1908
My dear Mr Hopkins,
I have just finished reading your book "From Bull Run to Appomattox" and I now want to write you how much I enjoyed it and how much I am indebted to you for the valuable / information it has given me. it is most interesting, and I am so glad to have it for my children to read, and will see that each one of them reads it. My wife wishes to be remembered to you and says she is looking forward with much pleasure to reading your book also / for she loves war stories. I so often look back to the time when you used to be here with us and often wish that we could see some thing of you. Your dear sister Mrs Brown was also one of the best friends I ever had. I used to live with her when I went to school in Middleburg and / she was a dear mother to me. I think you ought to come up and see all of your old friends. I do not think you have been up here for years. it has been at least twenty since I saw you last and if you will come will promise you a warm welcome at Kinloch. With warm love to you and yours.
Most sincerely yours
N. L. Turner
