Dear Mr Hopkins
in reply to yours 3/3/09
I have read your book it is fine. in regard to Handling sale of some I believe best results will be obtained from Ad. some at 1.00 fee copy thru Columns of Youths Companion of Boston the Am Boy of Detroit & Favorite papers of that class including Wanamakers Book News. a Publisher handling book would have to allow 40% to trade & you would have to allow to the head man You should offer them in 100 lots say at 50 or 60¢ now that you have pub the book get some thing out of it. it is an interesting book do something now for the Boy! & this is certainly an instructive book for the Boy /

I pub my book & had no one to help me I sold 3200 copies—I am in the map biz & do not handle books

this book ought to cost you 20¢ to manufacture. I suppose you have the plates of same.

my Idea would be name a figure & sell whole or a Edition to Am Boy Paper Detroit Mich & let them use it as subscriptions for their paper & they would use 1000ands write to G.P. Putnam Sons N.Y. Books Pay little attention to what people tell you of selling 1000000 &c anything you get in this world—you must struggle for—wishing you every success with the book!—Send out circulars from morn till night & get list of all army lost in U.S.—loyal Legion Sons of Revolution

Send a copy with your compliments to E A Werther Sec'y Sons of Revolution

he may be means of getting members to take a number of copies
