Dear Wife
                        I will write you a few lines and let you know how I am I think I am on the gane I feel a good deal better than I did a few days a go are in hops these few lines will find you all well was in hops I should have a letter from you this mail but had none I want to here from you and mother very much I had a letter from Sophronia the other day tha ware all well she sas you had ben out to see hur I am/glad you have you must visit a good deal this sumer you go and see mother as often as you can and if you can do hur any good buy staying with hur I want you should I want every thing done for hur that can be for hur comfort she has ben as good a mother to me as ever aney body had head if I ever come home I want to see hur smart & healthy I will send this letter by Lewis Child he starts for home tomorow with the remains of his Brother it must be a lonsome voage for him it will be a sad time with his folks at home the war has ended with him he has gon to a happer world than this I hope and have/no dout but what he has Well Frances I gues it is doutful about my coming home this time but dont know curtain We went up and sa the post serjen but have not hurd what he thought about it I dont expect he will let us go Well if I dont go now I shall somtime I think I hurd to day that the Bradford Guards was going in the 11th Regiment is that so I hope Edwin wont have to go nor Alfred for I think three will do in one famley I dont know but tha will have to all of them go yet I hope not I do hope this thing will be settled before it goes much further I don’t/think of much more to write this time I wish I had something to send you by Lewis if we had ben paid of I would have sent you something but never mind if I can find aney thing that I think you would like I will bring it with me I want to see you very much and hope I may before long I wish I could go with Lewis but as I cant I will stay and do the best I can Lewis will tell all the news to you so it will save my visiting it I want you to write often to me I wrote to henry the other day and are in hops to get a letter from him before long the boys are well as usial there is a few things I should like to write about here but it would not do for me Lewis can say what he thinks best cant write much more this time Give my love to mother and all the rest and accept a good share yourself Write soon.
