My dear Mr. Rockhill:
I am very glad to get your kind letter, with sketch of your brother, but I am sorry to learn you are not an "old cadet" also
I remember Arthur with great pleasure as one of the finest fellows we had in the Corps. Ron Bradley Jones whom you mention as being [?] of your brother, and who died a short while ago, Arthur and I all entered the V.M.I. the same month, Jones entering the second class, it being very far advanced, and we entering the fourth class. The sketch given me is quite satisfactory except I would like very much to know / the maiden name of your mother. Your parents, as I understand were both born in Richmond, Va Your father was Major in C.S.A. was he not?
This genealogical feature will add great value to our sketches
I note with pleasure that you know of my father
With kind regards,
I am very truly yours,
Joseph R. Anderson
Pres. V.M.I. AA&G
