Dear Wife
yours of dec 10th arived in due time and was very glad to here from you but Was very sory to here you was unwell are inhops before this reaches you your health will be better I sean by your Letter that you was at St Johnsbury When you wrote Well I am glad you have got up thare after so long a time now you have got up thare I should stay and make a good long visit I am glad you have made up your mind to not work much this winter for I dont think you ought to do much I think you have worked out your share I guess you had better go and stay with mother som this winter and keep hur company I should like to ben thare and went to to St Johnsbury with you very much but you see I am a Solger in the army of the gullf and I don’t think tha will let us of jest yet the report is here that the rebels have taken galverston texas back a gane and that the rebels ar [overwritten] are coming down the missippie river but I dont think it it is true if it is the will have a good time geting in to New Orleans tha will meat General Banks before tha/ get in to the city we are at Brashear City yet but dont know how long we shall stay here some think we shall leave here before long and go down to tipadoe but I hope tha will let us stay here this winter Jan.7th you will see that I did not finish my letter the day I began it for I have ben puty buisey sinse then Well I am sorey to say it but we have had Ordors to leave Brashear City We leave to morow if nothing hapens some say we are going to New Orleans but dont know where we shall go from thare Perhaps to Vitchburg thare is going to be hot work up the River soon but dont think we shall have to go up thar but dont know curtain if we do we will do the best we can I am inhops that tha will get this war sittled up soon so we can go home I cant stop to write much more this time Give my love to mother and tell hur to keep up good curage have you drad the State pay yet if you cant get it let me know and I will send you an Ordor on the united Stats trashary for all you want you must not be afraid to send for all you want I should like to be thare this winter very much. I will send this to Bradford for I think it will find you thare I have sent you some papers I sent a nice little sprig of cotton in one paper I hope you will get that so you can see how it looks when it is a growing the boys are putey smart the most of them
