My dear Col. Hopkins:
Your letter of acceptance of the above Staff position was received this morning, on my return to the city.
Your commission has been ordered from Headquarters, New Orleans, via, Opelika, Ala., the Home of the Commander-in-Chief, hence it will be slow coming. But do not defer ordering your Uniform 'till it comes, do so at once, so as to be ready for any public function. There will be a small fee from Headquarters, which you can remit on receipt of your Commission.
