Lieut.-Col. Luther W. Hopkins,
                        Baltimore, Md.

Dear Sir:
Lt. General J. Thompson Brown, Commanding the Department of Army of Northern Virginia, U.C.V., has requested me to select a mount for his use in the Parade, June 7th, and has sent me his check for eight dollars to cover the cost.

Should you desire me to secure a mount for you I will gladly do so, and will place the order with the same liveryman and thus have the Staff all together.

The prices for mounts will be four, six or eight dollars each equipped. I suggest that you get the best at eight dollars. Bring saddle-cloth with you as they are very scarce here.

Send me your weight and height when you order, so I can select a suitable mount.

              Truly yours,
              Wm F. Mahony
             Inspector of Mounts.
             518-Woodward Building.
