Jeanie Carter to Luther W. Hopkins, 2 January 1909
Warrenton Jan 2nd
My dear Mr Hopkins
Thank you so much for the book you so kindly sent me Xmas. I shall value it so highly. I wll try & sell the others if I can, & if I fail will return them to you. Everyone who has read the book is delighted with it. it is / a grand success. I should think you would be very "proud" of yourself. I am sure I would be, if I were you. Just now everyone here are most interested in a book written by Miss Annie Day, a history of Warrenton which is just out—filled with pictures of the / houses & people, with sketches of history relating to the oldest buildings, & most celebrated people, telling of Lafayette's visit to the town & how he was entertained &c. she got it out too late for Xmas presents, which was a pity. I will let you hear from me, in regard to the other five books I have on hand, later.
All join me in love—affecly yrs
Jeanie Carter
