Salem Wallace Statement, 12 March 1863
Public Sale
 
The undersigned commissioners will on tuesday March 31st 1863 proceed to sell at public auction on the premises the following tract of land upon which Wm W. Duff lately resided lying in Madison County on the waters of paint lick creek two miles above the bridge across said creek on the Lancaster and Richmond turnpike road containing 264½ acres. The above named farm is in a fine neighbourhood well improved with a good new frame dwelling house good kitchen barn &c. together with all the necessary out buildings. Also will be sold one negro boy about 18 years of age two other black women will be let out to the lowest bidder to be provided for during life.
 
            Terms—The sale will be made on a credit of 12 months bearing interest from date the purchasers giving obligations with good security for the sale money having the force and effect of a replevin Bond
 
            The sale will be made under a Judgement of the Madison Circuit Court in the case of Salem Wallace against Wm W. Duff and others
