            Dear Son
We Recd yours of the 15th today & ware very glad to here from you; but sorry to here that you are still not fit for duty hope you will soon get better

Inclosed you will find the V. you wrote for I am sorry we had to break the other V to pay Seely &c & we ware in want of some to buy a sorgum barrel & a few other articles that we could not doo without. I paid Able Crandel his 15; he has gone to the Armey again before he got quite well we also send a little capsicum & will send more in our next; get a vial to keep it in, it will keep better & use it freely; If you want any other Medicin you must let us know what you want use your Balsam Demalta also ocasionly it will surley strengthen your lungs &c you should use some tonic to get strengthened with the capsicum &c (in my next I will have more news perhaps) /

Mother says you had better come home on a sick furlough so I think too but of this you must be the judge yourself as it would perhaps cost you much if you should get discharged I would sell the pistol at some prise or other Perhaps you can get in with the Doctor & get a birth in the Hospitle; it would not be so hard on you as to stand guard & you would not be exposed so much your knowledge of medicin & both languages would I think make you a fit person to help take care of the sick & cripled & the experiance you would get in such a place would be of great value to you in after life in many ways your disposition would suit you for it & your education would be of great use but in these matters you must be your owne judg; but we have often thought & talked it over here at home & we realy think it would be of great use to you; experience is very usefull /

this is friday night & I wrote a letter to you on last Wednesday directed it to Louisville as usual & hope you will get it; in that letter you can see Andy Krieger & John Eshbauch ware drafted and other news; we have nothing new here at presant the friends of the boys are all well but complain that you boys dont write oftener; Mrs Stiner & George Stiner ware down last weak the old Lady wants Fred to write to her as she dose not here from him Mr Zimerman says he has all his fall work done all but husking his corn I helped Mr Frank make Lasses a few days; but am now husking at Tipps Next weak I will comence at Bradshaws I get the 8th b; his corn is very good Mr Bellowes are some unesy about John they know he is sick. he or you should write to them directly; you can write for him; I sent them word that John was better but write soon to them / we dont know here what to think in regard to the war but I think a good drubing in Ky; & one in Virginia would make a vast change in matters as they stand at presant although the sesh think difrent; but we hope it will soon be over & you boys come home safe & sound

The Democrats have not gained so much as they crowed over in the whole they have gained nothing Edgerton was beat in the Bristol Congressonal District Good the Great [?]. Valandingham in Ohio beten too Better; in a few districts they have got in a T, but not enough to injure the caus of Liberty & fredom yet; this is plain talk & wont doo to sing all over J Lockard voted with the Dem or T party so did More K. Ignorance is a great evil in our country but be quiet & sa nothing they can doo no harm to our cause at all

Did you get your stamps; who is your Preacher &c &c Lamb is the Brn Precher here but I must close we are all as well as usual & hope this may find you well too
