Sarah Hathaway (maiden name: Hatfield) was born around 1819 in Ohio. She married Ephraim Hathaway on December 28, 1836, and they had at least eight children: Mary, born around 1837; William, born around 1840; Patrick, born around 1842; Neoma, born around 1844; Cornelius, born around 1846; Abraham, born around 1849; Harrison, born around 1854; and George, born around 1857. They lived in Turtle Creek, Ohio, and her husband worked as a farmer. They moved to Washington, Ohio, in the 1850s, and her husband died in 1859. By 1860, she was working as a housekeeper, and she owned $2,000 of real estate and $500 of personal property. She moved to Lebanon, Ohio, in the 1860s, and by 1870, she owned $1,200 of real estate. She died on July 29, 1879.
