Dear Son
We Recd your welcom letter of the 24th of March last night & ware very glad to here from you again & happy to here you have so fare recovered from the Mumps knowing that you had the Mumps & not geting any letter from you for so long a time mad us very anxious about you; for weaks are Months with us when we know you are not well & get no letter from you to eas our minds; we all hope you have recovered your health & that you may be happy & as contented as your circumstances will permit it you to be / Above all try to be contented & as happy & chearfull as posible & that will make us happy to we are indead pleased that in all your sickness & trials since you are in the Armey you have never complained of any thing. this makes us feel happy & proud that our dear son is none of those complaining soldiers; & we hope you will continue to be so still, & to be a brave prudent & above all a religious soldier; I Recd a letter from Helen Bachman & Ruben Albright of Lititz old Aunt Bachman is living yet she is 84 years old Cousin Wm H. Albright is in the armey too he is about 48 years old but has his fathers blood for fight. he was a soldier 8 years & his father my Grandfather was a soldier in Prussia 18 years / they have not herd from Wm H A. for 3 months fear he is dead he printed a paper in Wrightsville Pa & has a familey there. I intend to write to her soon. well I must write now as things come to my mind if it is even not in order Did T. J. Albright call to see you you did not write about that matter of of Schroders that I mentioned in my last letter he says you bot a revolver from him & he paid you the 250 he owed me if so it is all right but if he lies I will sue him you spo mentioned somthing of your money. we dont need any now, but I had promised to send some to Menzo Fields if you would send any; he is a good loyal man & a friend it would be safer than on the boat; for there are very many / Rouges folowing you soldiers to steel your money. watch them sharp & they are genearally Copperheads too Dont stint your owne purse but keep enough to keep you from want of anything you may need & if you send any by Express send a letter & take a receipt from the Agt & we will try to take good care of it for you so it can be used by you when you return we are about as well as usual I have not bled any since I wrote to you last & can chop tolerable well & intend to grub a little for Mr Frank Mathew is tolerable well but still has the trouble I spoke of in my last you know the children dare not come to see us this is too hard to bare hoping this may find you well we will close with our love to you

Schreader owed us for a Hoop net & he told Gormans that he sold you a revolver & paid you the net if it is true it is all rite & if it ant then let us know in your next letter & I will tend to him
