We Recd your welcom letter today & there are 3 of us at writing this Evning to you but I am in poor writing trim for Edward & I ware choping wood (for us) these 2 days & tomorow we we intend hawling about a weak ago I comenced bleeding at my lungs again & have been throwing up a little ever since; but it was not severe this time & then I am geting like the German said Ushet mit it.
we are geting a fine lot of wood home. Mr Frank got a letter from Jacob Pontious; he tells of seeing you; but he has not got his discharge yet is geting better Mott Parett has gone to the Rigt again /
We are about as well as usual & hope this will find you well I must write as things come to my mind or I will forget some I want you to get some Gum Arabick & some Liquorice Ball & use it frequently when you are fifeing much; it will prevent any iritation of the throat or lungs We are well pleased with your change, because you are pleased you say you have good Officers &c & we hope you have good moral company & no swaring soldiers you will not be exposed so much as in long marches & you will have your meals more regular; but you will no doubt have some land marches sometimes to tree the Rebles & catch them too / but one thing bothers us a some; we dont see how you can get our letters when you are on the Boat you can drop one to us at almost any landing point out side of Rebledom; but how you are to get ours we dont know Pleas informe us on this matter we want you to write often and we will try to doo the same I have but a few stamps now I will send more in the next The Boys are urgent about the likeness; if you need any money or any thing else let us know if you have any to send doo so by Express to me; but send a letter before; with 2 invelopes the outside adress to James McDanels & the inside to me we will take good care of / your money & put it out in safe hands on intrest this caution is best known to us; & is a secret; you know news we have none, the folks are all as well as usual excepting old Mr McDanalls he is very low & will hardly recover; John Zimerman & Aaron ware guarding a loyal house & familey the last we herd of them I dont know what more to write but be shure to to have some friends about you that can let us know of your affairs; if any thing should happen you
my cousen Thomas J Albright used to live in St Louis you can inquire if you think proper but perhaps he is Sesh. I must close write soon
