Dear friend Albright
With pleasure I take my seat this evning to address a few lines to you in answer to yours of Sept 10th, which came to hand yesterday evening and its contents were read with much pleasure But was sorry to hear that your trip home used you up as it did and that you had such a hard time geting home. But Nevertheless was glad to hear that you were geting allong as well as you are. the Lord sendeth afflictions upon us all for sin and transgressions and therefore should we not with the greater patience endure them to the end.
My health is prety good at this time and I have been doing duty ever since you left us we arived here last Monday week and since then nearly all the sick & convalescent have gone home on furlough / and considerable many of them have been discharged and today they have all gone but 8 sick men and by tomorrow they will leave us. the Nurses are all here yet and today we have taken evry bed out of the wards and are going to have a general cleaning up of the boat and then she wants some reparing and as soon as we get through with our work we will all get furloughs I think by next Monday I will be on my way home
The Boys are all in good spirits and are having a good time. the Autocrat is at Cairo and the Boys are having the best kind of times I have not saw any of them for a day or two not since I rec'd your letter you spoke about a note that you left with Ord. White for collection that I could not say any thing about But as for Jim McCall I know that has not been paid for he came out in debt when they were paid off. But shall see about these things as soon as I can and write to you again
Lamareaux and Joseph Hays are discharged and gone home and Billy Sutre is discharged and gone home and George McMahan and / dihart are gone home on furlough and there is now but Wm Everet and I left on the Boat But ours will soon come. the Boys have nearly all gone home on furlough from the Autocrat I rec'd a letter from your brother yesterday evning for you and I done as you told me I opened it but I did not read it and found enclosed three postage stamps which I will at your request make use of and the letter I will enclose in this and send to you
Excuse this poor writing as it has been write in a great hurry and I will try to do better next time. Billy Everet send his best respects to you and I send the complements of the rest of the Boys to you. give my complements to all enquirers and do not forget to write as soon as you get this
