My Dear Brother
I am well to day and i hope that thease few lines may find you the same i got youre letter some time ago and was glad to lern that you was still on the mend; and you must pardon me fore not answering it sooner fore the postage stamps are very scarse down heare; But i was sory to heare that pap had hurt his back but i hope that he has got well again; and i was glad to heare that the rest of the folks was all well; i was glad to heare that you was still a Counter hopper ore Bottel smeler ore some other kind of a hoppende Grass ore smeller de Bottel But let that bee as it is i think that you have got a good plase | right Dress | front / and i think that you had better stick to it and bee some body fore fore you have got a good chanse wheare you are and i dont think that it is of any use fore you to think of coming down heare now fore acording to the news the rebs are about plaid out at least i hope and pray that it may be so and i think that it is so fore Old Grant is giving them fits at Richmond and Sherman is giving them shucks in Georgia and so i think that you had better stay wheare you are fore to tend to them femanines that you told about fore i think that you will have as mutch to tend to as you can get along with and about you makeing them put forth leaves and bear fruit according to theire kind i will tell you my opinion about it

i think that acording to your letter you are on a fair way to make your words come true and now i will pick one out fore you and then you pitch in fore hir well heare goes seeing as Katy has got Johny so you take Ella i mean helen King in the big white house on dutch street thaire how doo you like that i will tell how i like it i think it a good idea fore you may stand a goo chanse to get the old gray mare and some sheep and the Old Bob-tailed ram besides some others sutch furniture to furnish youre house with so i think that will set you up some in house keaping in this world that will bee hir part and your part is a little of that sweet smelling stuf cold [?] in one pocket with candy and some harts horne in the other pocket to keap from fainting | about fase / whel thaire that is nonsense a nuf the times heare are good at this presant time and fery lively for whe have plenty of exersise at presant fore whe are fortifing this plase and then whe are doing picket duty at presant and if you can send me a few postage stamps and some 2 cts stamps fore i cant get any down heare and pay day haint come yet. Give my best respects to Mrs Seely and the rest of the folks no moore at this presant time But i want you to write to me often fore you have moore time than i have and i want you to write all about the news in trout Creek and around thaire and the war news no moore fore this time but remain your Brother
