Dear Brother
I take this presant time to inform you that i am well and hearty and i hope thease few lines may find you the same and enjoying all the comforts of life i wrote a letter to you some time ago but have had no answer yet i dont no wether you got the letter ore not so i thought i would not wait any longer so you must excuse me fore not writing a long letter
 
well whe are all in good spirits and good courage things are all quiet heare at presant whe have got good quarters the most of the Boys have got log houses thaire is 8 of us together in one log cabin thair names are as folows Dewit S. Church Stephen H. Hamlin Shedrick W. Hamlin Andrew Munger / Wm E. Paterson G. W. Riegel E. W. Mcnitt and J. G. Albright, Esqr whe have got a good squad thay are all good natured felows and all married men. G. W. Riegel is the worst pill in the box he gets the sulks some times and is cross and quarlsom so that whe cant hardley get along with him But whe lower on him and then he comes down a notch ore too But it is hard to get along with him fore he can tell the bigest lie of any man in the whole crowd and he dont stop with them heare But he writes them home to his Old Gipsey and gives hir some grounds to spin hir lies upon and Bill i want you to keep a watch on hir fore she has tried to kick up a muss about Marys pay and if she tries it again i want you to put hir through /
 
            Ed. Mcnitt got a letter from you the other day and he said that i should tell you that he would write an answer as soon as he got time he sends his best respects to you and says that he is all right well now fore something els so hear goes forward March Charge Bayonet at the Copperpates you stated in your letter to Ed that the Cops did not show mutch fight at the Election onley one and he got whiped well that was good and that the Union candidate got a majority i am glad fore that fore i think that it was about time fore the peopel to get thair eyes open and look to the intrests of thair Country and give treason the Death blow so that it will never show its deformed head this side of the hot plase and i hope that when treason goes to that plase that the Cops will go with it / this fall i think is the last kick of the miserabel dirty filthy low lifed sneaken cowerdley (the other name i foreget) wretches fore i dont think that any name is to bad to be aplied to them fore look at the platform the onley hope that the rebs have is in the Election of Littel McCopperpate and if he is defeated the rebs must come to our terms and that soon too fore thay are getting fits in every corner write soon again Excuse me fore not writing more this time give Mr Seely my best respects tell him i am all right give my best respects to all union friends tell the Cops to kiss my—hind end. so good by fore this time from
